Every year we celebrate the tradition of maturing Sotol in glass underground in our distillery.

Sotolero Burial – Casa Ruelas
During the era of prohibition or Prohibition (1920-1930), Sotoleras families were prohibited from producing Sotol. Therefore they buried their production in glass bottles underground to avoid being discovered by the authorities. This caused it to become a clandestine product and gave rise to Sotol Matured in Glass underground.
Today we continue this tradition to pay tribute to
all these families who fought to sustain the sotolera tradition in the
state of Chihuahua.
The selection and assembly of Dasylirion plants or commonly known as Sereques is made by the Casa Ruelas Distillery. Who has
assembled the best species and to be able to produce only 300 bottles of this sotol, which will be buried as a unique or limited edition of its kind.
